Goals of the IRRF
- To improve the knowledge base, and quality of scientific data related to the usage of the Leksell Gamma Knife through the conduct of high quality retrospective and prospective clinical trials.
- To evaluate new indications for the use of stereotactic radiosurgery using the Leksell Gamma Knife platform in the context of clinical research.
- To test new treatment indications for rare or less common clinical usages of the gamma knife including its role in tumor management, vascular malformation management, pain, movement disorders, and epilepsy.
- To utilize the best research strategies to identify patient selection and outcome factors in order to modify or improve treatment outcomes for patients undergoing gamma knife stereotactic radiosurgery.
To perform research, provide education, and publish information related to stereotactic radiosurgery for the purpose of improving public health.
